A scary situation unfolded in the early hours of Grey Cup Sunday in Regina for city police.
A traffic stop took place on King street early sunday morning, which was assisted by the canine unit. During the stop – police made a number of alarming discoveries.
Inside the vehicle they found the front passenger wearing a camouflaged bullet proof vest, along with an improvised explosive device inside the passenger door.
The people inside the vehicle were arrested and police were also able to locate a loaded .22 caliber rifle.
The explosive unit was called in to assist with disarming the explosive device.
Now Matthew James Gallinger of Regina faces a number of charges – including unlawful possession of explosives and firearms.
Gallinger is scheduled to make a first appearance in November 21st.
