Prairie grain movement to port has slowed down in recent weeks, due to ongoing rain delaying unloads at the Port of Vancouver.
The worst conditions were in late October and the first couple of weeks of November, with some improvement in recent days.
David Prezednowek with CN Rail says deliveries in shipping Week 12 were 809-thousand metric tons, but that was down to 626 thousand tons in Week 15, which ended November 12th.
He says shutting down one part of the supply chain affects the entire grain movement system.
While rain affects grain loading at the port of Vancouver, extreme cold slows down trains.
Fortunately, there has not been an extended period of cold weather so far this fall, but December, January and February are still ahead.
