With the Grey Cup handed out to the Toronto Argonauts, the CFL offseason is now underway, and for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the first question this offseason is who will be the offensive coordinator in 2023?
On Monday, head coach Craig Dickenson joined Michael Ball on the SportsCage to provide an update on the team’s search to fill the vacancy at offensive coordinator.
Dickenson didn’t want to go into many details on the coaches that the Roughriders have selected to interview, but he’s confident in the quality of candidates.
“I feel like we got some good candidates, I don’t want to go into depth on who they are, you’ll probably find out as you look on social media. ”

Dickenson did confirm that Jeffery was in Regina on Tuesday to interview for the offensive coordinator position and that others would soon follow.
Saskatchewan is looking for a new offensive coordinator after letting Jason Maas go following the 2022 season.
With the question of who will be the Roughriders starting quarterback in 2023 still needed to be solved this offseason, the Riders head coach is looking forward to asking the prospective candidates the schemes that they plan to bring to Saskatchewan next season.
“What system do you wan to run, and take us through it and then secondly what kind of quarterback do you want to run that system we want to match up as best as we can.”
In the hiring process for a new offensive coordinator, Dickenson will be looking at the candidates philosophies on how they call a game as a play caller, along with their ability of handling the stress that comes along with the duties of the job.
He believes the face to face interview helps the process.
“It allows you to sit down with a guy and really get a sense of how sees football, how he views coaching, and how he views his role as an offensive coordinator and how it meshes with the head coach and the other coordinators think.”
Besides input on the starting quarterback, the next offensive coordinator will have a say on the rest of the offensive coaches that will be added to the Riders coaching staff.
Dickenson is hoping to have a new offensive coordinator in place within the next 2-3 weeks.
