Latest carbon tax hike kicks in on January 1

SaskPower customers will see a three per cent hike on their bills in the new year, due to the carbon pricing hike that will kick in on January 1st, 2024.

This will be on top of the four per cent rate hike that SaskPower handed to customers which began in September.
SaskPower said the specific amount per customer will vary depending on the power consumed.

The annual amount of carbon tax rebate that will end up back into the pockets of households will go from $550 to a single adult in 2022-23 to $680 for a single adult in 2023-24. For a family of four with two adults and two children, it will go from $1,101 in 2022-23 to $1,360 in 2023-24.
