Judge expected to issue decision on motion to end homelessness

While Regina city council enters budget discussions Wednesday morning, a Regina judge is set to issue a decision about a lawsuit brought by a pair of Regina councillors against the current City Manager.

Councillors Dan Leblanc and Andrew Stevens, along with Florence Stratton, filed a motion last month against City Manager Niki Anderson, claiming administration did not include action on the issue of homelessness in the proposed budget after being told by council to do so.

LeBlanc submitted a mandamus application, which asks the court to order the government to perform a duty owed to the public.

Both sides issued their arguments before the judge on Tuesday, with a decision expected to come sometime Wednesday.
