20 kettles have been stationed around Regina and are collecting donations for the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign this Christmas Season.
Major Al Hoeft, Executive Director of the Salvation Army, says the community has been so generous amidst all the current economic woes with inflation.
“We’re very aware of the challenges that are being faced. We know that those who are coming to us for service, the numbers are increasing because of the economic times and the challenges the families are facing,” says Hoeft.
“We also recognize that that makes an impact on our donors and our supporters but we’re so grateful that they still dig deep into their pockets and find ways to continue to support the work.”
Kettles can be found in stores like Walmart and malls across the city.
The kettles are still taking cash donations but people now have the option to tap and pay with debit or credit cards or phones.
“We have a $5, $10, and $20 square on each of our kettle locations where people will just be able to tap and make that donation,” says Hoeft.
The campaign will wrap up around noon on Christmas Eve.
