A 39-year-old man who was on remand was found dead in his cell at the Regina Correctional Centre early this morning.
The man, whose name has not been released, was found unresponsive in his cell this morning. Corrections staff called EMS and initiated live saving measures.
EMS declared the man dead at 1:26 a.m.
RCMP and the Coroner’s service have been notified and they are investigating. The ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an investigation.
No foul play is suspected at this time and a news release says the man’s death is not related to covid-19.
