Nyhus Declines A Pro Contract to Pursue Other Dreams

 

The Sports Cage has learned that QB Mason Nyhus of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies was offered a contract by the Saskatchewan Roughriders but turned it down for personal reasons. The 25-year-old has two degrees and is In demand for teaching jobs. So, the Riders have removed the Regina born Nyhus from their negotiation list.

In 51 career games with the Huskies, Nyhus completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 9,649 yards with 66 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. The former Michael A. Riffel Royal, was named an Academic All-Canadian on four occasions and finishes his U of S career having never lost a game as a starter in the province of Saskatchewan!

Nyhus led the Huskies to back-to-back Vanier Cup appearances. In his last collegiate game last November,  Nyhus completed 34-of-43 passes for 344 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in a loss to Laval
