Gun Violence on Saskatchewan First Nation Prompts Lockdown

Wakaw RCMP responded to a report of a violent assault involving the use of a firearm on the One Arrow First Nation around 10:30 p.m. last night.

Their preliminary investigation has determined the incident was targeted.  The suspect is believed to be an adult male.

Around 2 a.m. this morning on One Arrow First Nation social media, posts started appearing indicating that residents were being asked to lock their doors and windows, to not stand by doors and windows, and that police were investigating an active threat in the community.

The news release from the RCMP indicates officers have been in communication with the leadership at the One Arrow First Nation and the Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section have been called to assist. There will be an increased presence in the community for an undetermined amount of time as officers work to locate the adult male.

RCMP are conducting patrols in the community and interviewing witnesses. People are asked to avoid the areas where police are present and follow any police direction provided.
