A man had died after a police shooting Prince Albert.

Police say an officer started an investigation in an industrial area in the southern part of the city Monday when the shooting happened.

They say during a confrontation with police, a man was shot, treated by paramedics and then sent to hospital, where he died.

Police did not provide more information about the shooting.

They say the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team has taken over the investigation.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team is an independent, civilian-led organization responsible for investigating serious cases involving police officers.
