First speaker for the City Building Speaker Series has been announced

The Regina’s Warehouse Business Improvement District, the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce, and the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District have partnered up for a City Building Speaker Series and the first speaker has just been announced.

The series will feature speakers who have experience and insight into how cities can maintain and build a vibrant and prosperous place to live, work, and play.

This is being announced at a time when Regina is considering building five recreation and cultural-based facilities.

“If you look around the country, downtowns that are vibrant have multi-purpose event centres and new libraries,” said Tony Playter, the CEO of the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce.

“For Regina to continue to grow and attract people to the downtown to live, work and play, we need to have those types of facilities downtown.”

This first event will feature Placemaking expert Tim Tompkins, founder of Shared City Shared Space, who will be visiting Regina from New York City.

It’s taking place on January 27 at the Hotel Saskatchewan Dining Room at 2125 Victoria Avenue. It’ll run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There is limited seating and admission is $55 plus tax.
