Regina sees decrease in overdoses for 2022

Regina saw a decrease in the number of people who died due to overdoses in 2022.

There were 118 apparent drug-related deaths in total, 46 fewer than the record 146 apparent drug-related deaths in 2021.

Despite the decrease, 2022 marked the third year that over 100 people died of overdoses in the Queen City.

Of the deaths, 66 per cent occurred in Central Regina, with South (18) and North (16) seeing the rest.

Over three-in-five in people who died from an overdose last year were men, with the average of those who died being 39 years old.
