Sask announces 6 million dollars for livestock industry research in 2023

Agriculture minister David Marit has announced 6 million dollars in support for livestock research in Saskatchewan.

Marit made the announcement at the annual Saskatchewan livestock conference in Saskatoon.

He says the federal-provincial funds will support a total of 34 new scientific projects for 2023.

He says this year’s focus is on items like developing water quality test kits for agriculture ponds in Saskatchewan and developing an effective vaccine to control foot rot in cattle.

In addition, seven industry groups will contribute 288 thousand dollars for 12 livestock and forage projects.
