Grey Cup Festival Legacy Program launched by the Saskatchewan Roughriders

With the 2022 Grey Cup Festival and game now in the books, the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the launch of the Grey Cup Festival Legacy Grant Program on Monday.

The grant program will help establish and support projects and programs across the province of Saskatchewan in the areas of youth, healthy lifestyles and mental health.

$ 250,000 will be available through the program. Saskatchewan municipalities, Indigenous communities and registered charitable organizations are all invited to apply for funding, with up to $50,000 available per grant.

Jonathan Huntington Co-Chair of the Provincial Outreach Committee says the funding will be available to the successful applicants later this year. He said one of the goals of the program was to make sure the dollars were dispersed not only in Regina, but throughout the entire province.

Huntington feels its an astronomical need to support such initiatives as mental health in Saskatchewan and the Legacy Program is a way to support that cause.

“There is no doubt there are different segments of the population that still aren’t talking about mental health.”

He hopes this program will help open the lines of communication.

“I think you’ll see people come out of the woodwork and start talking about their situation.”

Applications will be accepted until February 27.

The full impact of the Festival, alongside the winners of the grant program, will be announced later this spring. More information can be found at riderville.com
