FSIN Calls for US Hockey Coach to be Fired

The FSIN is calling on Harvard University to fire its women’s hockey coach, for making racist comments.

“Racism has no place in our society or locker rooms. A place where we entrusted our First Nations young women would be free from abuse and racism. This abuse should not be tolerated by any University, especially a highly regarded institution such as Harvard University. I truly hope Harvard will stand with the Indigenous students and protect future students from this type of racist behaviour,” said FSIN Third Vice Chief Aly Bear in a news release.

According to the FSIN, during the 2021-2022 season, coach Katey Stone made racist comments to players, including two who are first nations from Canada.

The school apparently conducted its own investigation, but didn’t take any action against the coach.

The two players from Canada, as well as an assiatnt coach have quit the team because of the disrimination, and lack of action from the university.
