With free agency just around the corner, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced the five newest coaches to the team’s staff.
Del Cowsette will take over as the defensive line coach. He recently held the same position with Air Force Academy. The Ohio native has also coached at his alma matter, the University of Maryland, the University of Albany, Hampton University and in the UFL, where he helped the Virginia Destroyers win the UFL Championship. Cowsette was drafted by the Washington and played for the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears from 2000-06.
Head Coach Craig Dickenson announced on Monday on the SportsCage that former quarterback, Drew Tate would join the Riders as the new receivers coach. Last season, Tate was the tight ends coach with Northern Iowa. He spent time with BC as their QBs coach in 2019.
Saskatchewan has hired Andre Bolduc as their new running backs coach. Bolduc replaces Kelly Jeffrey who was promoted as the team’s offensive coordinator. The Quebec native spent the last nine seasons with the Montreal Alouettes as an assistant coach and running backs coach.
Former Riders receiver, Naaman Roosevelt has been appointed as an offensive assistant for the team. Roosevelt joins the team’s coaching staff after spending the 2022 training camp as a guest coach.
Anthony Vitale will be in charge of the team’s offensive line. Vitale heads to Saskatchewan after spending the 2021 season with Edmonton as their offensive line coach. He previously spent time with Saskatchewan as a guest coach during a pair of training camps.
Greg Mayer has been hired as the team’s new athletic therapist. He was previously the athletic therapist with the Regina Pats, a position he had held since 2004.
