A four-goal second period proved to be the difference on Saturday night as the Regina Pats defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 8-4.
The sold-out crowd at the Brandt Centre was treated to another big night from Pats captain Connor Bedard, as he scored a hat trick and now has 48 goals on the season. The 17-year-old also added a pair of assists.
In his first game back in the lineup from a lengthy absence, Tye Spencer scored for Regina. Spencer has been out since December 10.
Rounding out the scoring for the Pats was Zane Rowan, Borya Valis, Tanner Howe and Alexander Suzdalev.
Drew Sim earned the win for Regina as he made 39 saves. Moose Jaw outshot Regina 43-27.
The Warriors were shorthanded as the WHL announced that Warriors‘ netminder Connor Ungar, defencemen Max Wanner and Marek Howell, and centre Lynden Lakovic were suspended indefinitely pending an investigation into possible violations of team rules and the WHL Standard of Conduct Policies.
With the victory and the loss from Calgary on Saturday, the Pats moved themselves into sixth place of the Eastern Conference with 53 points.
The win for Regina was the second time they defeated the Warriors this season, they will meet in one home and home set on March 17 & 18.
Next action for the Pats is Friday, when they head to Prince Albert to meet the Raiders. Following that contest, the next three games for Regina will be at the Brandt Centre.
