There was a major hog barn fire Sunday in the Sturgis area about an hour north of Yorkton.

The owner of the barn, Olymel says about 10-thousand pigs perished inside the facility.

All of the employees were able to safely evacuate the barn.

There was no damage to a second barn and a feed mill about half-a-kilometre away.

Provincial fire investigators are on the scene to try and determine the cause of the blaze.
