One day before free agency officially begins in the Canadian Football League (CFL), the Saskatchewan Roughriders added a quarterback to their roster.
Shea Patterson agreed to terms with the green and white on Monday.
Patterson signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent the 2021 season with the BC Lions and Montreal Alouettes. The quarterback was mainly used as a short yardage quarterback and saw action in five games and recording 11 carries for 18 yards.
In 2022 he was in the USFL with the Michigan Panthers and New Orleans Breakers.
The 26-year-old played two collegiate seasons (2018-19) at the University of Michigan. He was with Ole Miss (2016-17)
Patterson also had a short lived baseball career. He was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 39th round of the 2018 MLB Draft. The Toledo product signed a contract with the Texas Rangers that allowed him to play out his final two years of eligibility at Michigan, while not appearing in any minor-league games during that time.
