With another weekend of above-average winter weather upon us in Regina, the Wascana Winter Festival is taking advantage of mother nature’s generosity.
This Sunday and Monday, the festival, formally known as Waskimo, will take over the Wascana Centre to provide free fun this Family Day Weekend.
Kolene Gustafson said they have plenty planned for people to check out.
“The events take place around the lake, and we’ve got some public skating planned; we’ve got some outdoor skiing on the science centre trail, snow cricket, and the horse-drawn wagon rides that will take place from Darke Hall,” she said on the 620 CKRM morning show, ‘Good Morning Saskatchewan’.
Gustafson notes that the wagon rides are the only event that isn’t free for people to attend, adding people can buy a ticket on their website for five dollars.
She also added that they are excited to bring back the indoor programming at Darke Hall.
“It’s refurbished and beautiful, and we are doing events in both Darke Hall and the links coordinator as well as outside.”
There they will have performances from musicians, magicians, salsa dangers, and fire performers outside,
Programming will run from 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on both days.
The festival will also have an ‘Escape the Cold Zone’ raffle. The raffle winner will receive one roundtrip flight for two guests to any regularly scheduled and marketed WestJet destination.
