Team Saskatchewan didn’t waste any time reaching the podium on Thursday morning.

Saskatoon’s Bon Lowe finished 2nd in the men’s 5,000m long track speed skating event in Halifax Thursday morning. After a Quebec skater was disqualified, Luca Veeman moved up from 4th place to capture a bronze medal in the event.

The female 5,000m and the team pursuits speed skating events will take place later today after the ice conditions forced the cancellation on Wednesday.

Saskatchewan now has four silver and three bronze medals at the Canada Winter Games.
