North Central Family Centre chosen to lead housing project

The North Central Family Centre (NCFC) has been chosen as the partner to lead delivery and operation of the Rapid Housing Initiative project announced in December.
The NCFC’s project is the development of a 30-unit multi family residential building located in North Central.
The city received $6.6 million in federal funding to support the project, which must be submitted by March 15.
Kim Wenger, the executive director of the NCFC said in a media release from the City that the project is more than just a building, and that it’s about community pride, connection, inclusion, sharing and hope.
She said it would serve as a model for future housing growth.

Once it’s approved, the project must be delivered and available for occupancy within 18 months. The city anticipates it being ready by late 2024.

NCFC is finalizing a purchase of a site in North Central. The city said details about public engagement opportunities will be shared in the coming weeks.
