Krystle Shewchuk selected as Sask. flag bearer as 2023 Canada Winter Games come to a close

 

The 2023 Canada Winter Games in P.E.I. came to a close on Sunday with the closing ceremonies.

Krystle Shewchuk was selected to be the flag bearer for Team Saskatchewan during the ceremonies.

On Saturday, Shewchuk captured her fifth medal at the Canada Games when she won a bronze medal in para sit ski 5 km interval start.

In in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, where she won three bronze medals, in the 2.5km, 5km and sprint in the Sit-Ski class.

Shewchuk has also claimed medals at the Canada Summer Games, she earned a silver medal in para sailing at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.

Overall, Saskatchewan finished with three gold, seven silver and ten bronze medals. The province finished sixth overall in the medal standings. Quebec claimed the top spot with 151 medals, Ontario was second with 108 and British Columbia finished third with 103 medals.
