Saskatchewan feeder cattle prices were on the upswing this past week.

The latest cattle market update from the Saskatchewan ministry of Agriculture says steers ranged from 352 dollars 40 cents for the 300 to 400 pound weight category to 236 dollars for the over 900 pound weight category.

Saskatchewan feeder heifer prices ranged from 288 dollars 30 cents per hundredweight for the 300 to 400 pound category to 220 dollars 10 cents for the over 800 pound category.

The January first Stats Can estimate puts 2.2 million cattle on Saskatchewan farms, down about zero point 9 percent from January 2022.

Saskatchewan beef cow inventories were down 1.8 percent.
