Fifth flight of Ukrainians coming later this month to Saskatoon

The Saskatchewan government says a fifth flight carrying Ukrainians displaced by the Russian invasion is set to arrive in the province at the end of this month.

Immigration Minister Jeremy Harrison says about 230 Ukranians will be on board the flight.

“We will continue to stand with Ukraine and the 3,200 displaced Ukrainians who now call our province home,” Harrison said in a media release.

When the Ukrainians arrive, they’ll have access to temporary accommodations and services, support and information about living in Saskatchewan.

The flight is being arranged in partnership with the humanitarian organizations Solidaire and Open Arms. A memorandum of understanding signed back in August has seen four flights of Ukrainians come from Warsaw, Poland.

This flight completes a deal reached by the province and the two refugee groups last August to bring more than one-thousand Ukrainians to Saskatchewan by March 31st.
