Number of COVID-19 cases creeping up in latest CRISP report

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan has increased in the most recent reporting period, from 202 one week to 237 in the next week, according to numbers from the province.
The bi-weekly Community Respiratory Illness Surveillance Program (CRISP) report indicated a higher number of cases, with 439 in the most recent two week reporting period, compared to 396 in the previous two weeks.

The report covers between February 26 and March 16.
Test positivity increased to 8.1 per cent from 6.5 per cent as well.
Hospitalizations were up to 140 from 126, ICU admissions were up to 15 from 11, and deaths were up to 14.
One of the 14 deaths in this reporting period was in the 0-to-19 age group, two were in the 20-to-59 age group, and the rest were in the over 60 age group.

There have been more influenza cases as well, with most of them being Influenza B strain. There were two influenza hospitalizations, and no ICU admissions in the reporting period.

The B strain is considered to be milder, clinically. Overall, the report said that influenza activity was low in the past two weeks with sporadic cases distributed in communities throughout the province.
RSV cases have been trending downwards as well, the province reported. Cases went from 164 one week in mid-January to 36 in the last week. Sixteen of the cases this week were in pediatrics while 14 of them were in the senior age group.

School absenteeism was up to 11.2 per cent last week from 10.2 per cent the week prior.
