Pats begin busy weekend with home and home set against Moose Jaw

Tonight, in front of a sold-out Brandt Centre the Regina Pats will host the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Pats have three games on tap this weekend. On Saturday, they will head to Moose Jaw for the final matchup of the season between the two clubs and then they wrap up the weekend with a trip to Saskatoon to meet the Blades.

Tonight, the Pats could put an x beside their name in the Western Hockey League standings. In order for Regina to claim a playoff spot, they need either a win or an overtime loss along with a Swift Current Broncos loss. The Broncos are in Red Deer to meet the Rebels tonight.

Regina is coming off a 6-3 win on Wednesday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Connor Bedard and Tanner Howe each had a pair of goals in the win.

In 52 games this season, Bedard now has 63 goals and 66 assists for 129 points.

There is a possibility the Pats and Warriors could square off in the first round of the playoffs. Moose Jaw is in 4th spot of the Eastern Conference. Lethbridge is in 5th spot, four points ahead of Regina with five games left in the regular season.

The Warriors are coming off a two-game sweep of  Swift Current and are currently on a three-game winning streak.

This season, Moose Jaw leads the head-to-head battle with Regina with a 4-2 advantage after six games. A single point this weekend would clinch the season series for the Warriors.

Coverage for tonight’s game on 620 CKRM begins with the pre-game show at 6:35, Dante De Caria will have the play-by-play beginning at 7:00.
