Pats hand out Player Awards for 2022-23 season

 

Before Saturday’s regular season finale at the Brandt Centre, the Regina Pats handed out their players awards.

It was a big night for Connor Bedard. The Pats captain was named the Player of the Year, the Torchy Schell Top Scorer Award, Mike Kartusch Community Service Award winner, Bill Hicke Most Popular Player and the #1 Star of the 3 Star awards.

Bedard not only led the Pats, but he also led the entire Western Hockey League with 71 goals and 72 assists for 143 points in 58 games during the regular season.

After the awards were handed out, the 17-year-old addressed the sold-out Brandt Centre and thanked the Pats fans for their support throughout the season.

Other winners from this past season, Parker Berge won the Rick Rypien Memorial Award for being the team’s unsung hero.

Stanislav Svozil won the Charles Johnston Memorial Trophy for as the top defenceman.

Tye Spencer was named the Hub Bishop Top Sportsmanlike Player.

Alexander Suzdalev was selected as the Nick Pappas Rookie of the Year.

Matteo Micheals earned the Scholastic Player of the Year.

Rounding out the awards, joining Bedard for the 3 star awards, #3 Star was Goalie Drew Sim and #2 Star was Suzdalev.

Along with the player awards, the team honoured the three 20-year-old players, Luke Bateman, Tanner Brown and Riley Ginnell.
