Saskatoon Blazers defeat Pat Canadians for SMAAAHL title with 8-0 win

 

After a close series through four games, the SMAAAHL finals was decided on Thursday night with the Saskatoon Blazers beating the Regina Pat Canadians 8-0.

The Blazers claimed the best-of-five series three games to two.

For the second straight night, the Blazers jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but this time there was no comeback from the Regina. After scoring a goal in the second period, Saskatoon finished off the game with four goals in the third period, with three of them coming on the power play.

Saskatoon’s Alex Garrett made 39 saves for the shutout.

Thursday night marked the first time the home team picked up a victory in the series.

With the league championship, the Blazers will now advance to the Western Regionals in Warman.
