March 2023 in Regina driest on record

March 2023 goes into the record books as the driest ever on record in Regina and Yorkton.

In Regina, Environment Canada says there was only a trace of moisture during the month of March, the lowest in 137 years of records.

Usually, Regina, Yorkton and Moose Jaw have about 20 millimeters of precipitation in March.

Yorkton had no moisture last month, the driest in 84 years of records.

Moose Jaw had over 10 millimeters, making it the 35th driest on record.

Saskatoon had its third driest while Swift Current had its 12th driest March.

For temperature, March was about 7 degrees colder than normal in Regina and Moose Jaw, with a mean temperature of minus 11.7 degrees last month in the Queen city.

Regina had its 19th coldest March on record, while Moose Jaw its 15th coldest.

Most stations saw March at well below normal temperatures.
