Louis Dreyfus Company has announced an investment to double the capacity of its canola crushing facility in Yorkton.
The new capacity will be over 2-million tonnes and construction is expected to begin later this year.
About 120 people are currently employed at the facility.
The province says this expansion will increase the value of exports by 50 percent, agri-food exports to $20-billion, agriculture value-added revenue to $10-billion, and private capital investment in Saskatchewan to $16-billion annually.
Saskatchewan’s top 3 agri-food exports in 2022 were canola oil and canola seed, valued at $3.5-billion and $2.7-billion respectively.
