The future National Hockey League team for Regina Pats captain Connor Bedard will likely be determined on Monday, May 8 when the league holds their Draft Lottery.

On Thursday, the Anaheim Ducks clinched the final spot in the league standings, as a result the Ducks will enter the lottery with the highest odds to win the number one selection in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Anaheim now has a 18.5% of winning the draft lottery for the draft’s top selection. The Ducks have guaranteed themselves a top-three pick in the NHL Draft in June.

On Friday, the Ducks began their changes as they announced Dallas Eakins would not be returning as head coach of the team.

The rest of the bottom of the NHL standings will be determined on Friday following the Columbus Blue Jackets matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.

Bedard is the odd-on favourite to be selected with the first overall pick in the NHL Draft in Nashville.
