Sask. Liberals are taking suggestions for a new name

The Saskatchewan Liberal Party is now kick-starting the process to change its name.

This comes after the official vote was held at their 2023 AGM on March 25.

The party has faced many difficulties over the past few years with the pandemic and now is looking to reevaluate its image in the province.

“Ultimately, if we are to realistically fulfill our duty to help bring the greatest good to the greatest number of people then a reimagining of how to do exactly this is essential,” says Sask Liberal Leader Jeff Walters on Saturday.

“I look forward to the next step in the process, to find a new name that best reflects the values and beliefs of this reimagining.”

The vote to initiate the name change had 88% in favour.

The party’s first step in the process is to ask Saskatchewan residents for their ideas.

It’s welcoming name suggestions from the party membership and the general public until May 17.

Suggestions can be submitted through the party’s website.

“We want a name that reflects Saskatchewan and the amazing people that call it home,” says Party leader Jeff Walters.

“At this moment, we have an opportunity to take our province back and become the change that will work for all the province’s people. This name change is just the first step.”

A short list of potential names will then be compiled and presented to the party membership.

A new name and new look will be revealed shortly after.
