Smile Cookie campaign partners with Regina Food Bank

This week marks the start of Smile Cookies at Tim Horton locations across the country, including in the Queen City.

All locations will donate their proceeds from Smile Cookie purchases to the Regina Food Bank, marking the second time the pair has partnered up.

John Bailey, the CEO of the Regina Food Bank, said that the pair go together well.

“It’s always incredible to see the buy-in from the community, the Riders, the Pats, coming through and sort of supporting the community, and Smile Cookie is such a great fit for the Regina Food Bank for that reason.”

“It really is a community-driven thing, and it’s something the community always gets behind, and that mirrors the Food Bank in a lot of ways,” he continued. “We are neighbours feeding neighbours, and the City comes together to make sure those who are facing food insecurity.”

The last time the pair partnered up, around $195,000 worth of cookies was sold, something Bailey hopes they can reach once again.

“That’s what we are aiming for this time through. That would be a really huge impact on our Food Bank,” he said. “When you think of our Food Bank of giving out between four and five million meals a year, that initiative alone will cover almost 600,000 of those meals.”

“I long way to go to make sure we are getting everybody who needs the support they need, but a huge bit of wind in our sales to make sure we can get it down if we can match those numbers or surpass them.”

Regina residents can purchase Smile Cookies at Tim Horton locations until May 7th.
