Riders select a P and a DL with Global Draft picks

Draft Day in the Canadian Football League (CFL) kicked off on Tuesday with the 2023 Global Draft.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another punter to their roster as they selected Australian Adam Korsak with the third overall pick.

Korsak was the 2022 recipient of the Ray Guy Award for the being the top punter in NCAA. The 25-year-old attended Rutgers for five seasons (2018-22). He also established NCAA records in career punts (349), career punting yards (15,318) and single season net punting average (45.3).

He finished his time with the Scarlet Knights without having a single punt blocked  and a streak of 150 consecutive kicks without a touchback.

The punter was also selected in the eighth round (61st overall) of the USFL Draft by the New Jersey Generals. This past weekend, Korsak went undrafted in the National Football League (NFL) Draft but is scheduled to take part in minicamps with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers.

With their second selection in the Global Draft, the Roughriders picked Italian defensive lineman Habakkuk Baldonado.

Baldonado was a two-year starter with the Pitt. The former Panther five tackles for loss, two sacks and a blocked kick in nine games last season. He went undrafted this past weekend but has agreed to terms with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent.
