The Battlefords North Stars advanced to the playoff round at the Centennial Cup in Portage thanks to a 3-1 win over the MJHL’s Steinbach Pistons.

Steven Kesslering had a pair of goals, Kian Bell also scored for Battlefords. Holden Doell chipped in with three assists.

Josh Kotai made 30 saves in the win.

There is still one day of round-robin action on Wednesday, the North Stars are guaranteed to finish in the top two spots in their pool.

The playoff round begins on Friday with the quarter-finals.
