Seattle wins WHL Championship over Winnipeg

The Seattle Thunderbirds are heading to the Memorial Cup after they beat the Winnipeg ICE 3-1 on Friday night to claim the Ed Chynoweth Cup.

Seattle defeated Winnipeg 4-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Sam Popowich, Nico Myatovic and Kyle Crnkovic scored for the Thunderbirds in the win.

The Memorial Cup begins next Friday in Kamloops. The Blazers will be competing as the host team.
