13-year-old arrested and charged after uttering threats at school

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with uttering threats at a school in the 2400 block of Retallack Street.

A school resource officer was contacted by the school Friday morning after school administration told officers they had learned of threats made by a student towards the school.

As a precaution, the school was put into ‘Secure the Building’ mode for most of the morning while police investigated.

Officers located the suspect at 11:20 a.m., where she was placed under arrest, with the school returning to normal operating procedures a short time later.

The 13-year-old was charged with uttering threats under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The youth will make her first appearance on this charge on July 6 at 9:30 in Youth Provincial Court.
