The Regina Airport Authority has provided an update following the death of a construction worker on airport property over the weekend.
“As you can imagine, this situation has been an incredibly challenging few days for all involved,” President and CEO James Bogusz said. “Most of the immediate items have now been completed, and it is likely this will be the last update from the RAA for the near term unless we learn more from another agency or company related to the situation.”
Bogusz shared the following updates through a media release.
- Both federal and provincial Occupational Health and Safety Inspectors have completed the on-site portion of the investigation, with some follow-up interviews ongoing.
- PCL is continuing their own internal investigation.
- A soft restart to the project occurred on Monday but the primary focus was on the people involved and ensuring supports were being utilized by those impacted.
- As of today (Tuesday), the project is now beginning to ramp back up.
- At this time, those involved have not released any personal or identifying information from the worker who passed away.
- At all times, the people involved with the situation have been provided full support and opportunities for crisis counselling and related discussion.
