2SLGBTQIAP+ Pioneers and Change Makers to be Celebrated at Queen City Pride Awards Gala

Tonight in Regina, the annual QCPride Awards Gala is set to take place at the Hotel Saskatchewan, celebrating the achievements, resilience, and diversity of Regina’s gender and sexually diverse community.

With the rights of those who are members of the 2SLGBTQIAP+ Community coming under attack globally- allyship and community support are more important than ever.

Among the awards being handed out will be a lifetime achievement award. Up for the nomination two founding members of Regina’s Gay and Lesbian community – Evelyn Rogers and her partner Lilja Stefansson. Having started their lives in Rouleau Saskatchewan as church friends, the pairing moved to Regina in 1975 and became fixtures in the city. Evelyn and Lilja were in the first Gay Pride parade, the first flag raising and have become staunch voices for gay rights. The pair are heralded as pioneers in the community.

Additionally awards for academic excellence, creativity, and allyship will be handed out at the gala.

The event will be hosted by drag performer Anne Whatsitoya, and feature music by Artist Morgan Moates.
