The Regina Food Bank and local Tim Hortons raised $171,181 for this year’s Smile Cookie campaign.
As the 2023 Smile Cookie charity partner, one hundred percent of Smile Cookie proceeds from 19 local Tim Hortons restaurants were donated to the food bank to feed people with food insecurity.
Mike Di Stasi, who spoke on behalf of the Regina Tim Hortons ownership groups, said giving back is what people on the prairies do.
“Our Tim Hortons are locally owned. We live here, coach here, and believe in building community. We are thrilled our restaurants and guests helped fight record hunger in Regina. It gave us a reason to smile.”
This is the second time the pair have partnered, and with every dollar donated securing three meals, over 1.1 million meals have been raised.
David Froh, the vice president of the Regina Food Bank, said high food costs make the annual Smile Cookie initiative critical to their efforts.
“We are entirely by donations, and funds from Smile Cookie will get food to people where they need it when they need it. Regina has once again shown how generous we are and how much we love Tims!”
