The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be kicking off their home schedule tomorrow night, and with Father’s Day Sunday, the theme is “Dad’s Night Out.”
“It all kicks off with the Party In the Park at 4 o’clock” according to Seth Strankman who is manager of Game Day and Events for the Riders.
“We have “dad” themed activities like potato sack races with plenty of prizes to give out, and there is the classic rock band, “Wonderland” to get the party going” Strankman says.
The first five thousand “dad’s” into the stadium will get a special edition Rider’s hat, inspired by the halftime entertainment. Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell will perform at halftime.
In another twist, there will be no anthem singer for the home opener. The Riders would like to have the crowd sing “O’Canada” acapella before kick-off, which should bring another element of emotion to game. Emotion shouldn’t be too much of a problem with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in town.
While “‘Pil Country” is sold out, there are some tickets left for the home opener, and you can get your tickets at https://www.riderville.com/
620CKRM will have “Countdown to Kickoff” on the air at 4pm, with Michael Ball and Luc Mullinder giving you the call of the game at 7pm.
