RPS called to City Council after group refuses to leave

Last night, the Regina Police Service was summoned to city hall after a group of people refused to leave the public gallery during a city council meeting.

The atmosphere grew increasingly tense as discussions surrounding the Integrity Commissioner report recommended the reprimand of Councillors Dan LeBlanc and Andrew Stevens.

Those who supported the pair of councillors and their actions became increasingly vocal and, after being asked to leave, refused to leave Henry Baker Hall.

Police were then called to clear the room, and no arrests were made from the incident.

Mayor Sandra Masters said that the doors to the council chambers were then locked before the meeting continued.
