Injuries have forced plenty of changes to the Saskatchewan Roughriders roster ahead of their Week 3 matchup on Saturday in Calgary against the Stampeders.
A few players have been placed on the six-game injured list and will be out for an extended period of time, safety Jayden Dalke, receiver Juwan Brescacin, defensive end Nic Dheilly,
Moving on to the one-game injured list this week are running back Frankie Hickson, defensive back Jeremy Clark, defensive lineman Demarcus Christmas, fullback Albert Awachie and defensive back Rodney Clemons.
On offence, the Roughriders will have a pair of tackles make their season debut as Jerald Hawkins will get the start at left tackle with Colin Kelly will play at right tackle. They will take the spots that were occupied by Brandon Council and Eric Lofton who have been moved to the team’s practice roster.
Centre Peter Godber is a game-time decision tomorrow due to an illness, Logan Bandy will get the start if Godber can’t play.
Kendall Watson will receive his first start at slotback with Bruno LaBelle receiving the start at fullback in place of Awachie.
There are a few changes for the green and white defence.
Nic Marshall returns to cornerback with Deontai Williams moving over to take Clark’s spot at cornerback.
Derrick Moncrief will make his debut at the strongside linebacker position. He missed the first two games of the season as he recovered from off-season shoulder surgery.
Inside of the defensive line, Charbel Dabire and Miles Brown will start with Micah Johnson listed as a Designated American. Anthony Lanier II will start after missing the first two days of practice this week.
Despite Kaare Vedvik off the one-game injured list, the Roughriders have elected to keep Adam Korsak at punter with Vedvik being shifted to the practice roster.
