New Stats Canada Report Shows Inflation Slowing

According to Statistics Canada, the inflation rate in the country declined from 4.4 percent in April to 3.4 percent last month, primarily due to a decrease in gas prices.

However, the report reveals a significant increase in grocery prices, rising by nine percent compared to a year ago.

Both economists and the Bank of Canada had anticipated inflation to drop to approximately three percent during the summer.

In the Queen City, inflation decreased from 5.2 percent to 4.4 percent, while in Saskatoon, the rate moved from 5.8 percent to 5.2 percent.
