SaskPower Checking 97,000 Wooden Power Poles

There are a whole lot of wooden power poles in Saskatchwan, and Sask Power is inspecting about 97 thousand of them between now and the end of October.

Crews have already started the inpection proccess in Fort Qu’Apelle, Maple Creek, Melfort, and many more areas.

SaskPower says it has set aside 5.8 million dollars to test and inspect these poles. Any that are damaged will be repaired, or replaced.

Crews will also be testing more than 8,200 overhead power transformer grounds in rural areas and install wildfire protection on 2,000 power poles in high-risk areas.
