North Regina Little League is heading to Williamsport, Pennsylvania next week at the Little League World Series after they defeated Little Mountain (Team BC) 4-3 in the championship finals of Canadian Little League World Series in Regina on Thursday afternoon.
Little Mountain opened up the scoring with a run in 1st inning before North Regina Little League exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Braeden McQueen had a pair of RBIs to lead the scoring charge.
The visiting Little Mountain squad added a pair of runs, but North Regina would hold for the victory.
The host team had dropped their first three games in the round-robin before picking up three straight wins to qualify for the playoff. On Wednesday, North Regina Little League defeated Mirabel (Team Quebec) in a thrilling come from behind 4-3 victory.
The defending champion Little Mountain squad had entered the championship finals with a run differential of 84-4 over their first seven games.
This is only the second time a Saskatchewan team will represent Canada at the Little League World Series, North Regina were the Canadian representatives in 2002.
The first game for the Regina squad in Williamsport will be on Thursday, Aug.17, when they meet the Asia-Pacific rep, Kuei-Shan Little League from Taiwan.
