Meet Sean Kleisinger: The New Voice of the Regina Rams

The curtain is about to go up on another season of great college football, as the Regina Rams will be kicking off their season against UBC on Friday.

620CKRM is adding a new, but familiar voice to the broadcast.

Sean Kleisinger is stepping up to the mic this season and is the play-by-play voice of the Regina Rams for the 2023-2024 season.

“For a while now, I consistently think what my young self would say if he knew this was coming.” (on being voice of Rams) Kleisinger said.  “It sounds cliche, but it really is a dream come true for me. To be the voice of my hometown University football team – a team that I grew up loving.”

Kleisinger went to Riffel High in Regina and was the quarterback of their football team.

The 31-year-old has been the producer of the Sports Cage on 620CKRM since 2018 and was recently added as a back up host of the popular sports program.

For the last four years, Kleisinger’s voice was heard over the PA system at Mosaic Stadium for Rams games, and now he is moving a few doors down to the broadcast booth.

Kleisinger is an avid sports fan, especially a Rider and Green Bay Packers fan.  He credits his dad for his love of sports, and football, as his dad took him to several football games, starting with the Labour Day Classic in 1996.

Kleisinger was diagnosed with MS when he graduated from Broadcast School, and he admits he went through a time of self pity and the dream of broadcasting left his heart.  Its hard to imagine being handed a diagnosis like that, just as you are about to start your professional career.

That fire was reignited in 2018 when he joined the staff of the Sports Cage as show producer.

“I’m excited for Sean, and the Regina Rams fans” said Andrew Dawson, the Director of News and Information Programming.  “Sean has been working hard towards this goal for several years, and now, finally he gets to do what he wanted to do: Football play by play.  I’m proud of him”

The Regina Rams will kick off their regular season on Friday night at Mosaic, with the UBC Thunderbirds flying into town.  The pregame show starts at 6:45pm, with kick off at 7:00pm
