Many of us in Saskatchewan feel we live not only in the best football province in the CFL, but we have the best football fans period.
This weekend, the football fan will have more than enough activity to slake even the most primal thirst.
First with college football, the U of R Rams jump onto the field at Mosaic Stadium tonight to start their season. First up, the UBC Thunderbirds.
You can hear the pre-game show at 6:45pm, with kick off set for 7pm. There are tickets available for the Rams home opener.
Saturday, Mosaic Stadium will host “Rider Fan Day” presented by the Capital Auto Group.
It all starts at 11 am at Gate 1 with all kinds of family activities including face painting and inflatables. The Riders will take to the field at 11:30 for their walk-thru for an hour, and after that fans will be allowed onto the hallowed field to run, play and of course, take pictures.
At 12:45 all of the Riders will available for autographs for an hour in the west concourse.
Sunday, is a day that needs little introduction, as every Rider fan has this one circled on the schedule. Its the 58th Labour Day Classic between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The game is now SOLD OUT.
Party in the Park will be a great place to get set for the game, as it opens up at 2 o’clock. There is the annual water melon eating contest, and if you want to test you ball tossing skills, a Dodgeball Tournament, where you can learn the 5 D’s of Dodgeball, and win your way to first. People who participate will get a retro dodgeball t-shirt.
You will want to be in your seats early because the “Big” Canadian Flag will be on the field for the national anthems, followed by a flyover by three CT 155 Hawk Jet Aircraft.
