Regina Police report 23 overdose deaths in July

July was the second-most deadly month for overdose deaths in Regina’s history.

According to the Board of Police Commissioners monthly statistics, the Regina Police Service reported 21 apparent deaths due to overdoses in July, marking the most since December 2021, when the city saw 23 deaths.

July’s numbers now brings the city’s total to 93 apparent deaths in 2023.

Regina Police also reported 390 occurrences of an overdose in July, the most in one month so far this year.

The near-record number comes after the city saw just six overdose deaths in June, the first time that number has been in the single digits in six months.
